Privacy policy
Kana Trainer · last updated 26 August 2026
Kana Trainer collects nothing, sends nothing and contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. It has no user accounts and no server. Everything the app records stays on your device.
What the app stores
When you finish a practice run, Kana Trainer saves a score report in its own private storage on your device. A report holds the settings you chose, the characters you were asked, which answers were right or wrong, and how long the run took. Nothing in it identifies you.
You can delete any report, or all of them, from the reports screen at any time. Uninstalling the app removes them along with it.
What leaves your device
Nothing, unless you ask for it. The app makes no network requests: the kana, the audio and every other asset are bundled inside the app itself, and the built-in content security policy blocks outside connections outright.
The one way data moves is the export button, which writes your reports to
a .kt-report file at a location you pick, so you can carry
them to another device. That file goes where you send it and nowhere
else. Importing reads such a file back.
Permissions
The Android build asks for no runtime permissions at all. It does not request your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or access to your photos or files beyond the single file you choose when you export or import a report.
Google Play will list “full network access” under this app's
permissions. That is the standard INTERNET permission,
declared by the Tauri framework the app is built on so its webview can
load the app's own bundled files. Kana Trainer does not use it to reach
the internet, and its content security policy would refuse the attempt.
Children
Kana Trainer is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. The app is open source, so any change to what it does with your data is visible in its history.
